Max Mickey was obtained by the Steelers in 1952 as a rookie out of Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. He was listed as a guard, but was also a kicker. He didn't make the cut in the end but had plenty of amazing stories to tell. He was my great uncle.

You are probably asking about the baseball team that played mostly in the Negro National League and was actually named the Homestead Grays. The Grays played most of their home games at Pittsburgh's Forbes Field during the 1930s and '40s, although in the early 1940s they began playing mostly in Washington, DC.There does not seem to be any movie about this storied team, but there is an 8-minute video, Homestead Grays: Gone But Not Forgotten, that can be viewed at YouTube and at the link below.
