The numbers have varied naturally over the seasons but the viewership numbers (via Nielsen) for new episodes can be anywhere from over 12 million to 5.5 million. The very high premiere numbers generally don't represent the rest of the season. For instance, The first episode of Season 4 received 11.85 million viewers but dropped to 9.7 million for the second. Season 8's first episode received 10.1 million viewers but the next highest number was only 9.6 and Season 9's highest was 9.4 and the next highest was 9.2 then the third was only 8.8 million. Season 9 ranged from 9.2 million to 5.8 million. Season 8 ranged from 9.6 million to 6.1 million. Season 7 ranged from 9.9 million to 7.3 million. Season 6 ranged from 11.5 million to 7.6 million. Season 5 ranged from 9.3 million to 7.2 million. Season 4 ranged from 11.85 million to 5.7 million.
