Linseed Oil should be used as soon as you get your new cricket bat, rub the oil into the surface of the bat to protect it.

No you should not oil the bat.Because these days bats are already good enough,i tried it turned by bat worse

Linseed oil was very often used to saturate the blade in order to soften the wood, make it more comfortable to use. But it depend on the bat how much oil have to use.
