This is a debute topic in the world of motorsport. Nowadays, it mainly Formula 1 which is a constent motorsport which used an open cockpit. During Formula 1 2012 Belgiam GP at the start F1 Driver Romain Grojesion collided with Lewis Hamilton, which result Romain Grojesians cars onto the rear end of Lewis Hamiltons car and then rided over Fernando Alonso's F1 driver missing his head only by few inches (See related link for visual prospective). This caused the FIA to talk about having closed cockpit F1 cars but to-date, F1 cars still use Open Cockpits.
