Boys are very easy to injure in this area. During contact sports it is a good idea to protect your balls from getting smashed since the pain is incredibly bad and you don't want to be unable to get a girl pregnant later.

Soccer is a sport where there isn't much body contact, and if somehow a ball would hit him, I don't think it would be powerfull enough to do any kind of damage.
