When Pierre de Coubertin revived the Olympic movement at the end of the 19th century, his idea was to make it an international event and have the games in a different country each time.
A number of organizations are involved in the organization of the Olympic Games. Collectively, they are known as the Olympic Movement. The Olympic Charter outlines the rules and guidelines by which these organizations operate. At the head of the Olympic Movement is the International Olympic Commitee, or IOC. It is currently headed by Jacques Rogge. The IOC makes the important decisions, such as which city hosts the Olympics.
The child who led the Children's Crusade in 1212 is commonly referred to as Stephen of Cloyes. He claimed to have received visions from Jesus instructing him to lead a crusade to peacefully convert Muslims to Christianity. The movement ultimately ended in tragedy, as many children were either sold into slavery or died during the journey.
Countries do not enter the Olympic Games. The Olympic Movement consists of international sports federations (IFs), National Olympic Committees (NOCs), and organizing committees for each specific Olympic Games.
