The 1985 Kansas City Royals overcame a 3-to-1 deficit to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
THey may be down 2 games, but they will win the 2012 World Series!
No, it has never happened in the history of the World Series.
It has happened in the World Series many times. The last team to win a championship after being down two games to none was the 1996 New York Yankees.
No. Since 1922, four wins equals a World Series championship. No team in the history of the Fall Classic has come back from three games down.
I presume you meant to ask, "Has any team in a seven game series been down three games to one, taken the series to seven games, and then lost that last game?" 1967 World Series, the Red Sox lost to the Cards 7-2. 1972 World Series, the Reds lost to the A's 3-2. 1992 NL Championship Series, Pirates lost to the Braves 3-2. 2008 AL Championship Series, Red Sox lost to the Rays 3-1. There may be others I was unable to find or notice. Or maybe you meant to ask, "Has any team in a seven game series been down three games to NONE, taken the series to seven games, and then lost that last game?" The fact is that no team, other than the Boston Red Sox in 2004, have been down three games to none and then taken the series byond six games. Only two have even extended the series TO six games. The Red Sox took it to seven games and then won that seventh game.
1968 Detroit Tigers who won Games 6 and 7 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis against the Cardinals.
The Boston Red SoxThe Boston Red Sox won the World Series in 2004, their first World Series title since 1918. The Red Sox World Series drought had nothing to do with the sale of Babe Ruth to the Yankees. The Red sox did not over come the 'curse of the Babe' they overcame being down 3 games to none to the Yankees in the Playoffs and earned their way to the 2004 World Series title.
No. Since the first World Series in 1903, no team has ever won a world championship after losing the first three games of the Fall Classic.
Well in Baseball you play 7 game series but the first team to win 4 of those 7 games wins the series and moves on to play who ever else won their 4 games and it keeps going until you get down to two teams and they play in what we call the World Series. Now the World Series is played by one American League team and one National League and the team to get to 4 wins in those games are what we call World Series Champions. Hope that helps. :-)
It has never happened in World Series history.
1955
The series is done.... there is only 7 games to a series
