No. This distance is used because it is far enough from the line of scrimmage that it's difficult for the defense to interfere with the kick, but not so far that the kick is difficult to make.

Why is a punt calculated from the line of scrimmage?

All passes, runs, and kicks are calculated from the line of scrimmage. It is the one arbitrary line that can be used as a universal point of reference without subjective decisions, and thus can be universally applied. The exception is the field goal; it is calculated from the location of the ball when kicked, except that if there is a penalty, it is still calculated from the line of scrimmage.

What is the objective of gaming legislation?

The objective of the game is to be the team to score the most points between 2 teams. You score by passing for a touchdown, running for a touchdown (both offense), interception return for a touchdown(defense) fumble recovery return touchdown (defense) safety (defense, the defense sacks the quarterback or tackles the ballcarrier in their own endzone) field goal (special teams, a kicker kicks the ball through the goalposts) extra point (kicker kicks ball through goalposts after a touchdown).

What is an example of a sport quote?

Depending on the sport. Football for example everytime the ball carrier makes a touchdown they would probably shout, "TOUCHDOWN." In soccer after the ball handler kicks the ball in the net they would probably shout, '"Goal!"

Using NFL rules can a blocked field goal be recovered by the kicking team behind the line of scrimmage and thrown for a touchdown?

If it doesn't cross the line of scrimmage and the kicking team recovers the ball, the kicking team can kick again on the next down. This happened this week in Iowa vs Northern Iowa. Read about it here: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=292482294

Is the distance of field goal measured from the kicking spot or the line of scrimmage?

A field goal is measured from where the ball is kicked from, not from the line of scrimmage. If Team A is kicking a field goal from the 20 yard line, the distance of the field goal would me measured as follows: Length to Goal Line: 20 Yards Length of Endzone: 10 Yards Place of Kick: 7 yards behind the line of scrimmage (typically kicks made from 6 to 7 yards behind the los) Total Distance of Field Goal: 37 yards.

Can a point after a touchdown be challenged?

A two-point conversion is reviewable, as are all scoring plays. But goal kicks are reviewable only if the ball is lower than the top of the uprights.

If a football player kicks off the ball and another player on the opposite team recevices it and makes the touch down from there how many points will that team gain?

All touchdowns are worth six points. It doesn't matter how the touchdown is scored, via a pass, a run, or on a kickoff or punt return. After the touchdown, the scoring team receives a "point after touchdown" attempt for one or two extra points.

What is a field goal and how many points are awarded?

A field goal is when a team kicks the ball through the two goalposts (not an extra point, which is a kick taken after a touchdown). A field goal is worth 3 points

The Start and Restart of Play in football?

On a play from scrimmage, on a punt, or on a field goal, play starts when the Center snaps the ball. On a kick-off, play starts when the kicker kicks the ball. Play stops when one of the referees blows the whistle.
