Yes. Depending on if you even can twist your body 180 degrees. If so, and happened to land in lotus position. Then, and to my knowledge, only then, will you be able to "sprain your hip". It is very unlikely though.

Yes.

A sprain is an injury to a ligament caused when the ligament is stretched too far. Ligaments are tissue that connect bones and there are four ligaments in the knee ... the anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate, and medial collateral ligaments connect the femur to the tibia and the lateral collateral ligament connects the femur to the fibula.

In sports, knee sprains are very common and can occur if the knee is twisted when the foot is planted, getting hit on the knee with the foot planted, running and then suddenly stopping and shifting your weight from one leg to the other, or landing from a jump with the knee flexed.

Firstly, you should see your doctor to make sure no serious damage has been done. If you have already been discharged by your doctor and all you have been told is that you have a sprained knee, it is almost certainly not too serious, and is likely a grade 1 or 2 sprain, and PRICE and exercises should be enough.

PRICE: Usually, the best course of action is to follow the PRICE principles (Protect, Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) to reduce pain and swelling and to speed up healing. Click the link to find out how to safely and effectively use PRICE.

REHAB: Then when you feel able (usually in just a few days), start some exercises to regain the strength, movement and function of your knee.

Grade 3 tears (also known as a rupture), can often be treated in the same way as grade 1 & 2 sprains, although they will take longer to heal. However, sometimes surgery is advisable if the knee keeps giving way, despite trying exercises.

What happens if you fall and hurt your knee?

This depends on how you fall. If you scratch or cut your knee, you will most likely bleed. If you bang your knee, then you will most likely get a bruise. If you bend or twist your knee in an unnatural way, then you could break, sprain, fracture, of rupture the ligaments or bone that makes up your knee.

What is a stretching or tearing of ligament?

You have ligaments all over your body. They hold your bones together. They are very strong but flexible. Joints are where you can bend, elbow, knuckle, knee, wrist etc. There are usually larger bones meeting at this point which generally has a lot of smaller bones in it. The easist one to see is the patella, or kneecap. This is a small bone that covers and protects the knee joint. Ligments keep this from falling apart. If you were to damage your knee badky you might be able to slide your kneecap all the way off of the knee! If you tear one, it is very painful and usually needs to be reattached surgically. The joint won't function properly without it. You can either tear the end off of the bone or snap the ligament in the middle. Think of the cables holding up a bridge, they could just come off the bridge or they could break in the middle. Either way it is a catastrophy. Hope this helps! A sprain

Did Leonardo DiCaprio get a surgery on his knee?

Yes. While he was playing basketball with other celebrities in Santa Monica he fell and sprained his knee. He had to undergo surgery because of a bad sprain. He had a brace on his leg from the top of his ankle to the top of his thigh. He was on crutches. If he had to have a surgery on his knee he must have been on crutches for a month.

Can you sprain your pelvis?

Technically you can not sprain your pelvis it's self. You can sprain your hip however, this is because a sprain is located in a joint.
