I've never tried this but found this on ThumperTalk. A standard, non-O-ring chain.......... Just put a quart or so of plain old cheap motor oil in an old pot, enough to cover the chain and heat it up, don't need to boil it, but get it good and hot and leave there for about 5-10 minutes. No matter how well you think you may have cleaned the chain before doing this, you can watch all the crud and crap roll right out of the chain. Let it cool back down, take the chain out, let it drip dry, wipe off any excess, put it on the bike and spray it down with your favorite chain lube. Most of the time, even old filthy chians with kinked links that you can't get freed-up well will work fine after doing this.
A clean bike chain is essential for a smooth and efficient ride. Here are the steps to clean your bike chain properly: Remove: If your chain has a master link, you can easily detach it from the bike. If not, you can use a chain tool to break the chain at any link. Degrease: Use a degreaser spray or a solvent to soak the chain and dissolve the dirt and grease. You can use a brush or a rag to scrub the chain gently. Rinse: Use water to rinse off the degreaser and the dirt from the chain. Make sure the chain is completely clean and dry before reattaching it to the bike. Lubricate: Apply a thin layer of lubricant to each link of the chain. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a rag. Lubricating the chain will prevent rust and reduce friction. By following these steps, you can keep your bike chain in good condition and enjoy a better riding experience. These were the simple steps to clean your bike chain.
it is DIRT
Yes. because dirt can soak up more water than sand can
Grease is better than nothing, but not particularly good. Grease is too thick to get into the chain, and that's where it is needed the most. You're better off using something that's more runny, like oil. Clean the chain, give it a good oil soak, wipe off the excess and then you're done.
window cleaner is an acid as when you leave it to soak it will "burn" away all the grime and dirt
The earth would soak up more rain if the dirt was gone over with a rototiller. In doing that it loosens the ground and makes the rain more likely to penetrate deeper.
Soak in diesel overnight to loosen dirt/debris, use choke key supplied with gun
first make a foundation out of logs rocks anything you can find really and once done get some damp dirt and add to the foundation so you can shape the jump when you are finished soak it with water and leave it to go hard
Let it soak in a pail of soapy water for a while. Use a scrub brush to remove any dirt deposits, then rinse.
Soak it with penetrating oil and let it sit for a few hours then use an impact wrench or breaker bar to remove it.
I don't know about "safe", but it is safer. If you fall and hit your head the helmet will soak up some of the energy that otherwise would have gone straight into your skull.
no. the lions are an okay team...until 2000. they would really have to soak to lose to a team 19 times in a row.
