I definitly shoot more accruatley with a net than without. When your looking at the net about to shoot and your brain is figuring out the depth of it and how much power it will take to reach it. That's why for example if your playing a game of pool and can close one eye and aim better, but that method gives you no depth perception. Your brain is most accurate in calculating depth when you are focusing at one particlur point. Since you can't use the hole part to look at because there's nothing there your coaches tell you to look right at the back of the rim. Having the net there lets you focus on getting the ball to hit the inside back part of it instead of just the hole.
