What side do you want the flex on if you shoot right on a hockey stick?

Flex is a measure of how bendable the stick is, the flex has nothing to do with left of right handedness. For high school players the standard flex is 85, with some of the stronger players using 100 flex. You want a flex that is going to allow you to get as much snap as possible when you shoot. The lower the flex, the easier the stick bends.

How can you harden a hockey stick?

to make a stick stiffer you could cut the stick down as much as needed or you can move up in flex... just remember that you don't need to have the stiffest stick on the team. Most NHL player uses an 85 flex and usually cut the stick to make it a 90 95 flex stick. Also you can a wood knob at the end. I use an 85 flex and cut the stick about 2 1/2 inches to make it about a 95 flex...

What does p88 52 flex mean on the vapor hockey stick?

I'm pretty sure p88 is Patrick Kane's particular curve on his sticks, and 57 flex means how much the stick bends.

How do you decide what hockey stick flex to get?

By flexing the stick at the store and asking an expert. Or take this idea , the easier flex is the better one to choose. ---------------------------------------- Picking the correct stick means first finding a stick that is as close to your perfect length but is UNCUT; with you in a standing position (without skates and feet flat on the floor) and looking straight ahead, place the stick (blade down) in front of you. If the butt end of the stick comes up to your nose or is a little above, then you have the correct sized stick. It may need to be cut a little, but cutting an inch off of a stick has little effect on the sticks overall flex rating. If the uncut stick is way below your nose or way above, then you have the wrong length stick. You will then need to look for something that is closer to your height naturally, before cutting it to an exact length and flex rating. Once you have picked the correct length to work with, you can adjust the flex rating within that family. In other words, if your perfect size is an intermediate length stick, you can pick any flex usually within the 60 to 70 range (depending on the manufacturer). If your perfect length is a junior sized stick, then a 50 to 52 flex is the range you'll be working with, and so on. The idea here is to not take a senior sized stick (flex ratings between 75 and 110 with an average shaft length of 60 inches) and cut it down for a junior sized player (which I have seen done). If you cut a stick down that much, the flex rating increases so dramatically and becomes so stiff, that it will have become unusable for the person it was intended for. Conversely, taking a stick that is too short and adding a 12 inch or longer extension seriously decreases the flex rating. The stick may then be so bendable that puck handling will not only become very difficult but your shots will be mostly uncontrollable. It will also severely shorten the life of the stick. Always, always, work from a stick that when uncut, is as close to your natural height as possible. You can then cut it down or even add a little to get it to your perfect length and flex rating.
