are u asking what is a capacitor? a capacitor in the heating and air field or in most things at that is a reservoir that holds electric current kinda like a backup of some kind... in a ac unit they are not very expensive but u can tell immediately if its bad by looking at the top it should be absolutely flat if its bubbled out its probably bad
