Yes it is overrated in my humble opinion and I have been there, just the once.

Cape Town, the jewel in its crown is nice enough but not as spectacular as Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco or Vancouver. Robben Island big disappointment when compared to Alcatraz. In fact Table Mountain is just a big flat topped rock and I have seen many Austrian towns which are more scenically situated amidst spectacular mountains and more astonishing views. Your average S African is abrupt, opinionated and just full of it. They can't believe that people prefer Big Sur to Garden Route. Well yes they do and the 2 are similar.

S Africa has nothing to compare with New England in the fall.

Save your money and visit USA; more diverse scenery with nice people.

Buenos Aires is fairly cheap especially if you are taking dollars. The money there (pesos) is less than dollars. and you can also check the prices of the internet places you would like to go before the trip.

WikiAnswers contributors share their opinions:

  • Yes, Old Montreal has not much to offer, and the rest of the city only speaks French.
  • No, Montreal is a great travel destination. Old Montreal has many great shops, and I found that most people could speak English throughout the city. Montreal has many things to see such as the Biodome- I personally enjoyed my trip there very much.

Depends What do you do ! For enjoy no but for living Yes

New Entry - Depends

Pros of Rio:

1) Great combination of outdoorsy and city life combined into one municipality, which creates many breathtaking views

2) Intriguing local culture and great people

3) Street food, cuisine, and drinks

4) Great history

5) Solid public transportation via buses and metro

6) Samba & live music scene

7) Skip the the Copocabana, Leblon, and Ipanema beach scene and head straight for "Barra" as that's the best one within Rio's city limits.

Cons of Rio:

1) For a city that possesses the "most expensive rent" in the world, it lacks the cosmopolitan lifestyle offerings of places like Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, New York City, etc for young professionals

2) Way too many generic mainstream "one shoe fits all sizes" restaurants and nightlife options that are overpriced

3) I'm a world traveler that tends to accept each destination for what it is. Physically speaking, Rio is structured like Hong Kong. The second city I mentioned however has much more to offer in terms of A) Shopping, B) Overall Dining Options, C) Cosmopolitan vibe all without doing so at the expense of the local culture, which is also highly overlooked when Hong Kong is mentioned.

Overall: Rio is a can't miss destination if visiting Brazil, and I would like to embrace it more as a person who speaks Portuguese. I am a little biased in the sense that I view it as not being as intriguing if you've say ever visited Hong Kong, which is Rio x 100.

Depends on what you want to do. Toronto has a great lake, beaches and many theatres and museums. -Best of all it has (nearby) Canada's Wonderland. -A HUGE theme park, like Disney -but better ! Best 16 rollercoasters in North America. -The Great Canadian Minebuster, Dragonfire - and 14 others . - -forget Disney, come to Canada's Wonderland .

Yes and No. The way Colombia is percieved by most people is underrated. However, the way guides and individuals talk positively about Colombia, then its overrated.
