11.36 is a decent throw if you're very new to the event. With coaching and competition, the throw can increase dramatically.

If you go to http://www.usatf.org/groups/Youth/ you'll see links along the left for things like finding a club in your area to join for coaching and meeting other throwers with common interests. You'll also see meet results and records out there. Remember, the javelin is a complex event, and much improvement can be made over time with hard work and positive attitude.
