How do you dunk a basketball?

In order to dunk a basketball, you have to first be able to jump high enough to be able to get your hand above the rim of the basket. Dunking, then, is forcing the ball down through the basket from above as opposed to shooting a basket which involves arcing the ball up and into the basket from below.

What is the history of the term basket case?

From the Online Etymology Dictionary: ; basket : 1229, from Anglo-Fr. bascat, origin obscure despite much speculation. Said by the Roman poet Martial to be from Celtic British and perhaps cognate with L. fascis "bundle," in which case it probably originally meant "wicker basket." But there is no evidence of such a word in Celtic. Basket case is 1919, Amer.Eng., originally a literal reference to quadriplegic veterans of World War I. Fig. sense of "person emotionally unable to cope" is from 1967. Note: One word had to be removed from the above in order for the etymology of this word to be accepted on WikiAnswers website, a word that can also be used as a bad word. Please see the Related Link below for complete etymology.

Why do you use both feet and inches to measure a persons height?

People aren't always exactly X feet high. For example, I am a few inches above 5 feet. It would be too obnoxious to say 5 feet 30 centimeters.
