In football and netball players have specific roles to play on the court or field (forward, Midfiel, defence or or in netball the goal Scorers - GA, GS the centre court players: WA, C and WA and the defence: GK and GD). Players have a specific position when the game is started or restarted. Players in both sports are coached to pass the ball in front the player so the player can run onto the ball and players are taught to receive and pass in one smooth, fast motion.

In a game of netball Centre is one of the main players, this is because centre has to make the main pass and if it is intercepted (taken into the other teams hands) then the other team have a better chance of shooting where as if it is not intercepted then you can make the perfect centre pass which can be done in any order you prefer.
generally if the wing attack (WA) can not receive the centre pass then the goal attack (GA) will be the next in line. and so it is important that the GA always goes out for the centre pass as a back up for the WA
