A common way is to measure from the tips of the fingers (with arms hanging down at the sides) to the floor. Average is 27 inches. Adjust the length of the club by one-half the difference between the measurement and 27. See Dave Tutelman's clubmaking notes.

The main Golf clubs are the Driver, this is the longest club in the bag, it has a shaft of about 43-47 inches. The loft on a driver is usually between 7.5 and 13 degrees, in regards to the head size it can range from 380-460cc, 460cc being the maximum legal limit under the rules of golf as laid down by the R and A and USGA. The average drive by an Amateur golfer would be around 210 yards and for a professional around 290 but some hit it way farther than this. The next type of clubs are fairway woods, these mainly come as 3,5,7,9 and 11 woods however some manufacturers make a 4 wood also. The shafts range from about 38-42inches, 3 wood being the longest. Over the last few years hybrid clubs have become very popular, they have the loft of a long iron but the appearance of a wood, they are a blend of the two. They have a low centre of gravity so they help the player get the ball up in the air and they are a lot more forgiving than long irons. They usually come in 2, 3, 4 and 5 iron lofts. They are very popular with ladies and seniors. The shaft lengths vary with the clubs, they are about 38-41 inches. The most common club in the bag is the iron. A usual set would have 8 irons which would be 3-PW. A 3 iron is the longest iron (about 38-39 inches) and a wedge is the shortest (35-36), the length of the shafts descend through the bag with the difference between the length of the clubs about ½ an inch. There are also wedges, these are about 35-36 inches long these have the highest lofts in the bag the main lofts are gap wedge 50-52 degrees, sand wedge 54-56 degrees and lob wedge 58-64 degrees. The putter is about 33-35 inches long, it is only used to roll the ball into the hole. It has a loft of around 4 degrees. You can get different designed such as a blade or mallet all of which comes down to personal preference.

How do you tell sizes of golf drivers?

If you are referring to the length of the club you should measure from the top of the grip to the bottom of the hosel of the club. If you are referring to the head size you should simply look on the manufacturers website and it will tell you there. There is no point trying to calculate it yourself as it will be very difficult.

Why is a golf hole 4-14 wide?

In 1829, the members and greenstaff at Musselbrugh Golf Club in Scotland (now Royal Musselbrugh Golf Club) invented a hole cutter, which was 4.25 inches wide. The R&A visited and liked the design, they later decided to adopt it as the official size of a golf hole. The reasons why Musselbrugh's members had made it that size remain unknown.

What is circumference of golfball?

(Taken from http://golf.about.com/od/historyofgolf/f/holesize.htm) Like so many things in golf, the standardized size of the hole comes to us courtesy of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, with an assist from the links at Musselburgh. In new rules issued in 1891, the R&A determined that the hole size should be standard on golf courses everywhere. So the R&A discussed just what exactly that size should be. The size they decided on was 4.25 inches in diameter. The reason is that the folks at Musselburgh (now a 9-hole municipal course and called Royal Musselburgh Golf Club) had invented, in 1829, the first known hole-cutter. That ancient hole-cutter is still in existence and is on display at Royal Musselburgh. That first hole-cutter utilized a cutting tool that was, you guessed it, 4.25 inches in diameter. The folks running the R&A apparently liked that size and so adopted it in their rules for 1891. And as was usually the case, the rest of the golf world followed in the footsteps of the R&A. ANSWER: 4.25 inches, at least 4 inches deep.
