Formula 1 is the most expensive sport because of its exclusivity.

Not everyone can go racing where as everyone can go and play a bit of foot ball.

This means that advertisers see it as a good oppertunity so spend lots of money getting their name to the top.what this requires is money to buy the best engineers. money to buy the best drivers and money to buy the best directors.

This isn't cheap as they are contesting with the other 13 teams trying to do the same.

Also the materials used are ridculouly expensive. coupled with the engineering processes their price increase even more.

And f1 driver is paid on average the same as Wayne Rooney. that's an average so some get even more!!!!!!

Red bulls senior engineer also gets paid the same as Wayne Rooney (roughly and annual salary of £5mil)
