In Australia:

  • 18yo - You can do a tandem or AFF jump without parental consent
  • 16-17yo - You can do a tandem jump only with parental consent
  • 14-15yo - You can do a tandem jump only with parental consent (this is only available at some dropzones)
  • Younger than 14 - Special application must be made to the Australian Parachute Federation. Usually this can only happen if a parent or legal guardian of the child is a qualified skydiving instructor with hundreds of jumps under their belt.

You must be eighteen years of age in order to parachute jumping solo. An id might be required in order to prove your age. There is no way to be registered by a parent or guardian if you are under age. There is no age limit.

When it comes to parachute jumping age requirements often vary state to state and company to company. Since the government does not regulate or place age limits on the activity most companies use a general rule for their own safely. In general most companies use what is called the "age of legal majority", which in most states is 16-18 years of age, to determine a minimum age limit. As far as a limit on seniors most companies do not have any upper age limits۝. They often allow the parachute jumper to decide if they are still young enough to give it a go.

How does a parachute effect free fall?

If the parachute is too small, then the load it is carrying will fall faster, the same thing is with big parachutes. If it is medium sized it will fall at a desirable rate than a larger or smaller parachute.

What is the definition of free-falling parchute?

"Free fall" means that an object falls only under the influence of gravity; specifically, air resistance can be ignored. An open parachute does not normally fall in this category."Free fall" means that an object falls only under the influence of gravity; specifically, air resistance can be ignored. What is the difference between free fall and static line parachute jumps?

static line jumps are static, free fall are not :P

Does a parachute have free fall motion?

Yes but due to air friction we cant see it free falling.

Would a parachutist be considered a free falling object and why?

The falling of a parachutist without his parachute deployed will be quite fast. We can slow his decsent by putting a drag on the free fall with a parachute. The fall is no longer free of drag (friction).

Examples of free fall?

When you jump/fall from an inthinkable height without parachute or any other safety devices. When a bird retracts its wings and fall striaght down it is consiered a free fall.

What is free fall with example?

Free fall is exactly what the name suggest. A free fall is when an object falls downwards with NO OTHER FORCE acting upon it. An example of a free fall would be if you pushed your friend off an airplane. while he is falling he is experiencing no force but gravity (a free fall). Don't worry though, he had a parachute he deployed later on.

Why wait 10 seconds before deploying parachute?

So you get away for the plane and you do get caught, plus you get to free fall

What size of parachute makes a free fall slower?

Depends what you mean by "better". A bigger parachute provides more wind resistant so if you were to jump out of a plane, you would want to go big. If your talking speed (like a running parachute) you would want a small parachute to accommodate how much harder you want to make your run

How do charity parachute jumps work?

Most charity parachute jumps advertise that people who donate will receive a free skydiving lesson and fall. Usually, one needs to donate a sizable sum, worth at least $300.

Can a man in a parachute accelerate?

Yes. Acceleration can be positive or negative. When he jumps out of the airplane and is in free fall, he is accelerating in a downward direction, so his acceleration is negative. When he opens his parachute, he accelerates in an upward direction, so his acceleration is positive.

What records is Michel Fournier trying to break with his jump?

Michel Fournier, if successful, will break several world records when he jumps out of his balloon at 130,000 feet. Among these are records for distance (highest altitude for a human balloon flight and highest parachute jump), speed (fastest free fall) and time (longest free fall). One of his most unusual goals is to be the first to break the sound barrier with his own body.
