you dont always need college to be a football player but you have to go to college to play college football
The NFL requires prospective players be out of high school for at least three years. This equates to a college player having completed either his junior season, or his redshirt sophomore season.
A redshirt freshman is a player who sits out their first year of attendance at a college. In NCAA rules you can only play four years. So if a team has a position already filled a player will redshirt for a year in order to maintain the full four years of eligibility for when the position opens up. When a player redshirts they are able to practice with the team and even play a minimal number of plays during the season.
A player has four eligible years to play. if a player does not play at all the whole year then he is redshirted which means he does not play that year but does not take away one of his four eligible years. the only way you can redshirt a player twice is if they get hurt at the very beginning of the year
at least two years of college
He or she can be on the active roster for up to four years. They can have one medical redshirt, and one normal redshirt. Technically, a player can be a part of theri organization for 6 years as a player, but can only be on the active roster (available to play) for four years maximum.
Played only three years of football because he redshirted his first year. Now he is in his fifth year of college, but only fourth (and last) year of football
You can enter the NFL Draft with three years of college education. Many football players will redshirt as a freshman which is the NCAA legal way of giving a student five eligible years of football at college. You may see people enter the draft as a sophomore, however the redshirted so it is actually their 3rd year in college.
You are probably referring to a redshirted freshman. In football you receive a redshirt by not playing in any games in a given season. Also by receiving a redshirt it does not count against your years of eligibility. So a redshirt freshman or rFrosh can still play 4 years just like a true freshman can.
That depends; who are you? If you were a past college football player who wants to return after playing four years, sorry, but you cannot return to play college football after your 4 years of eligibility are up.
It took 4 years of college to become a nfl profoootball player.
