The wild card isn't determined by number of wins. It's determined by ranking within the conference. The four division winners get automatic playoff berths. After that, two wild cards go to the non-division winners with the best win-loss record. If more than two teams have the same record, the NFL uses a series of tiebreakers to determine who advances to the playoffs.

∙ 13y ago4 (theoretically) the top 4 playoff spots belong to the division winners. A team can go 4 and 2 within their divisio, lose the rest and still clinch if every body else exchanges wins
