The number of players arrested was far more than 30 in the 80's, and the same for the 90's. People fixate on the "arrest" record of college athletes, and the vast majority of arrests are for simple misdemeanors such as under-aged drinking, possession of THC without intent to sell, jaywalking, etc. Most programs have issues like this, but they become national news and topics for ridicule when a particular team, such as Miami or Florida, starts to win titles.
