The Boston Celtics star was stabbed 11 times in the face, neck and back on September 25, 2000. He also was hit in the head with a bottle. As a result of the incident, he underwent lung surgery to repair the damage. He recovered quickly and did not miss a start during the 2000-01 season.

A third man, Anthony Hurston, was acquitted of all charges.
