Marseille won 1-0 but the victory was tainted as they had cheated and were relegated to French second division and blocked from defending the title. UEFA/FIFA never removed their win from the records as the corruption involved was in bribing another team in their league to let them win a match to win the league earlier, so they could prepare longer for the European final. Other allegations were unproven.
