As of the start of the 2007 season, the NFC has won 19 Super Bowls and the AFC has won 18. Four Super Bowls were played before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Of those four, the NFL won 2 and the AFL won 2.

∙ 11y agoAs of the end of the 2009 NFL season, Super Bowl XLIV, the score is NFC 21 and the AFC 19. The first four Super Bowls were played before the AFL-NFL merger and the score there was tied at 2.
If you carry that out to over all the Championships it would be NFC 23 and AFC 21.

Of the first 44 Super Bowls, 21 have been won by an AFC team and 23 by a NFC team.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won 6 in the AFC. The San Francisco 49'ers have won 5 in the NFC.
Five. He was with the 49ers when they won Super Bowls XXIII and XXIV and the Cowboys when they won Super Bowls XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have won 6 Super Bowls, more than any other team.
