How many points do you need to win a tennis game?

Until 2001 a Table Tennis game was played up to 21 points.

But in order to make the game more exciting, have more "crucial" points, and make it more appealing to television viewers, the rules of table tennis were changed.

A game of table tennis is now played up to 11 points.

The winner is the player or pair who first scores 11 points, unless both players or pairs score 10 points (called deuce). Then a game will be won by the first player or pair to gain a two point lead.

A match is the best of an odd number of games - usually 3, 5 or 7 games.

It could literally be an unlimited amount of points to win a tennis match. The winner of a complete match is the first person to win 2 out of 3 sets (3 out of 5 sets in Men's Grand Slams.) The winner of each set is the first person to get 6 games with a 2 game margin. If both players have 6 games in a set, then a tie breaker is played. The winner of the tie breaker wins the set 7-6. Games are also won with a 2 point margin. At Deuce (40-40 or 40-all), the player who wins the next two points wins the game. Consequently, if no one wins 2 points in a row, the game would continue forever.
