Four

Well actually, there is no limit on the amount of golfers allowed on the course at one time, the rule is to allow other people through if slow play is the issue. However, local rules can apply that restrict the amounts of golfers allowed at any time, which is usually four. :)

The maximum is a 4 ball group, this means 4 balls in play. So if you are playing something like foursomes you could have as many as 8 people in one group. However if it is singles the maximum would be 4 people.

no. according to historic Golf regulations, only an even number of players may play a 'tee' at one time.

This goes back to the traditional use of wimmin as a diversion during the incredibly boring game. Whilst one player is hacking away at his ball, the other may be engaging in a bit of "How's your father" with his companion.

An odd number of players could result in the embarrassing situation of one man engaging in fairway love while the other would be bored.

The even number of players rule has been enforced by the golf lords since the early 9th century, when golf was referred to as "snit".

No, you are only allowed a fourball, (which means either four players or four golf balls). The most you would ever see on a course would be three teams of foursomes or greensomes (6 people) playing 3 balls.
