302 Gold Medals 1 for each event
Olympic medals are awarded in a ceremony following the completion of each event, immediately following the certification of the results by the judges.
There will be 302 gold medals, and 906 medals, in total, to be awarded in the 2008 Olympics. Obviously they make more individual medals to hand out than that because each person of team events get a medal....
If you mean what is the prize awarded for coming first in the Olympic games, this would be the gold medal. The medals awarded in each event are: Gold - first Silver - second Bronze - third In the ancient Olympics, winners were awarded a branch of wild olive. Sometimes the government would allow an Olympic champion to live in a special building that was only for distinguished citizens. Other winners would be exempt from paying taxes for winning an event in the ancient Olympics.
Each country awarded it's own medals. The list depends on what country you are referring to.
The USA had the largest number of medals awarded with 104. China was next with 87. There were 962 medal awards to the athletes and each one won.
962 medals including 302 gold medals 304 Silver Medals and 356 bronze medals Below are the reasons for more than the 302 event medals for the Silver and Bronze medals. Two silver medals (and no bronze) were awarded for second place ties in both the men's 200 metre freestyle swimming and the men's 100 metre butterfly swimming events. In boxing, judo, taekwondo, and wrestling, two bronze medals are awarded in each weight class. Two bronze medals were awarded for a third-place tie in the men's keirin cycling race; three bronze medals were awarded for a three-way third-place tie in the men's high jump. There were many more medals distributed as every athlete on a pair or team receives a medal event if they were only part of the qualification process and not in the final event. There were over 500 athletes that received Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medals as members on the Men and women's team events of Basketball, Field hockey, Football, Handball, Indoor Volleyball & Water polo for just those 12 events
i think they are awarded for each medal... i think they are awarded for each medal...
Each Olympics is different. The 2016 Summer Olympics had 306 events, each with a gold medal.
Norway and Finland won the most gold medals at the 1924 Winter Olympics with 4 each.
There are three prizes given for each event at the Olympics. The winners receive gold medals. The second place finishers receive a silver medal. The third place finishers receive a bronze medal.
Each event only gives one gold, one silver, and one bronze. Some gives two bronze (boxing).
Tennis made its debut at the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. It was played at the Olympics until 1912 and then discontinued. Tennis returned to the Olympics as a demonstration sport (no medals awarded) in 1968 and 1984 and regained full status in 1988 and has been played in each Olympics since.
In all of the Olympics that is Christian d'Oriola and Lucien Gaudin, each of whom won 4 gold medals in fencing.
12 Medals 4 each of the gold Silver and Bronze Medals

Yes, should there be a tie there can be multiple medals awarded. This happened in the women's 100 meter dash at the 2008 Games in Beijing when Sherone Simpson of Jamaica and Kerron Stewart of Jamaica tied for second place, each running the race in 10.98 seconds. Both ladies were awarded silver medals. In this instance, no bronze medal was awarded since the next position after these two ladies was 4th place. Should there be a tie for 1st place and two gold medals awarded, no silver medal is awarded but a bronze medal is awarded.
It depends on the number of events that year.
there are 302 events some have 2 bronze medals instead of a playoff and teams and pairs are awarded medals to each member
The medal count shows people how many gold, silver or bronze medals each country has in the olympics. It shows who has the most medals. That is what the medal count is in the olympics.
962 medal were won for the 302 events in the 2012 Summer Olympics. 302 Gold, 304 Silver Medals because 2 ties resulted in 2 Silver medals being won instead of a Silver and Bronze for each event. 356 Bronze Medals because in 56 events both Semi Finalists get the Bronze Medal if they lose the match. The winners go on to complete for the Silver and Gold Medals
The athletes in the first eight places in each Olympic event receive a diploma and public recognition. Only the first three receive medals.
