Marco Simoncelli died on October 23, 2011, due to sustaining serious trauma to the head, neck and chest. He was involved in a motorcycle racing accident with fellow drivers Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. Simoncelli was struck in the head and neck by Rossi's bike during the Malaysian Grand Prix. He was taken to the medical center and died less than an hour later.

No. Both Micheal Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello finished the 2001 Malaysian Grand Prix. In fact Micheal won the race and Barrichello finished in 2nd place, behind by 23 seconds. This was yet another 1-2 finish for the Ferraris in the 2001 formula one season.
