According to the Wimbledon website (refer to the link, below), as of June 2009, the grass courts at Wimbledon are made of "100% Perennial Ryegrass".
All the courts at Wimbledon are made up of rye grass, with each blade being an average of only 8 millimetres in length.
The court surface at Wimbledon has always been real grass, hence 'Lawn Tennis', although clay courts and synthetic indoor courts also exist at the complex for training purposes. Although the courts are especially prepared with particular grass and soil for the purpose, the grass does naturally wear down over the use of the courts and can develop bare patches and slippery areas.
The courts at Wimbledon are made up of rye grass, with each individual blade of grass averaging 8 millimetres in length. Wimbledon is also now the only of the four Grand Slams to be played on grass, although the Australian Open was also played on grass in the past.
