One national championship

They shared the Championship with OU. Because the first poll came out before the bowls were played OU was named national champion. After Kentucky defeated OU in the sugar bowl most sources recognized the wildcats as the national champion.

Navy has won one College Football National Championship in 1926 according to the Boand and Houlgate poll systems. The 1910 team also was undefeated and unscored upon (the lone tie being a 0-0 tie).

As of January 2017, Maryland has 2 national championships in football:

1951 as voted by College Football Researchers Association (human poll) , DeVold System (mathematical ranking algorithm), Dunkel system (mathematical ranking algorithm), National Championship Foundation (Human Poll) and Sagarin Ratings (mathematical ranking algorithm)

Note: the Associated Press and UPI polls voted Tennessee #1 that year. Other polls and algorithms had variously Georgia Tech, Illinois, and Michigan State ranked #1 that year.

1953 as voted by the Associated Press, UPI, and the International News Service.

Note: Other polls and algorithms had Notre Dame and Oklahoma picked #1 that year.
