If you don't have a Nerf gun yet I would suggest getting the new Nerf elite strongarm aka the new version of the maverick. I would choose this because it is easy to use it is powerful and accurate it is also not massively big. If you already have a few Nerf guns and ammo I would suggest getting something rapid fire like the Nerf elite styfe or the Nerf elite hail-fire.

What is the best Nerf gun to use in the circumstance of a Nerf war?
I would go with the Strongarm, because it's simple, light, and is easily reloaded. You get to pick up bullets from the ground and reuse them on the spot. Good for running around, dodging bullets, or shooting from behind corners. But, it only holds six bullets at a time. If you want heavier firepower with moderate mobility, then I would go with the Rapidstrike. Fast, holds 18 darts, pretty light, and has an automatic flywheel. Unfortunately, it sucks when it jams, since it's not really possible to unjam it on the spot. It's also pretty loud (so no sneak attacks), and it takes forever to reload unless you have an extra mag. If you're not planning on running much, then go with the hail-fire. Basically a little demolisher. Holds up to 144 darts, semi-automatic, and fires 6+ darts per second. It's a bit awkward to run around with, but who cares? It basically demolishes everything. Downside is that people keep stealing it. Again, this is all just opinion. Cheerio.
