D2 Football is Division 2 championship. They usually create a second division for when they very many teams. Usually teams are put into the second division because they were relegated or promoted. An example of this is the NPower Championship, where the bottom 3 teams are relegated from the Premier League and put into the second division. Cheers

as of the early 2000's there are none. It is only division I and III. This was done because the schools that had a D2 program were primarialy ivy and private schools, and there simply werent enough teams to make money. When the NCAA closed down the D2 programs, schools had the option of going to D1 or D3.
Yes, a D2 player can transfer without sitting out a year as long as they transfer out of conference. If the transfer happens within the conference, the player must sit out a year.
