Art Shell coaches the Oakland Raiders, Tony Dungee coaches the Indianapolis Colts and there have been others in the past as well. It's a sign of the times that some current or past Black head coaches have been omitted in this answer because it is no longer an issue whether a head coach is Black, White, Yellow or Red. -----
As of the start of the 2007 season, current African American head coaches are Marvin Lewis-Cincinnati, Mike Tomlin-Pittsburgh, Romeo Crennel-Cleveland, Tony Dungy-Indianapolis, Herm Edwards-Kansas City, Lovie Smith-Chicago.
