First of all, it is entirely opinion. Calgary and Edmonton have a running thing going, where apparently "all" people from Calgary hate Edmonton, and vice versa. Which isn't actually true, for the most part. This probably mostly comes from hockey. Most Calgarians are extremely defensive of their team, the Calgary Flames, and tend to often dislike opposition. Edmonton's team, The Oilers, is certainly Calgary's least favourite team. Why, I am not sure. If you go into Chinook mall, many T-shirts with the oilers logo are available, except they say "Losers" in the middle.Calgary is larger and has a stronger economy.

The Jets were one of four teams from the World Hockey Association (WHA) to join the National Hockey League in 1979. The others were the Hartford (New England) Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, and Quebec Nordiques.
