It depends on the size of the race. For example, the Iditarod is a 1-2 week race all the way from Nome, Alaska to Anchorage, Alaska... Or the other way around. If you are doing the JUNIOR Itidarod then it will be about 4-6 days depending on how good, lost, or fast you are.
If you keep them in the freezer, they will last for at least a decade. They might be a bit tough but they won't spoil.
Whats interesting about the Iditarod is that its a 1,500 mile long race across Alaska that lasts a long time.
The person who finishes the Iditarod in last place is awarded the title "Red Lantern".
