Inflammation nearly always accompanies injury and some of the effects of inflammation include heat and swelling due to blood vessels becoming more porous around the site of the injury. Applying ice helps slow the blood supply decreasing the heat and swelling which contributes to the pain.

It is best to apply ice to an injury for no longer than 20 minutes at a time. You can apply ice every hour, but no longer than 20 minutes!

Ice in almost all situations. Ice or cold Allergies are conterindicative. So is frostbite. Just about all others ice works best.

ice is very cold that it makes you feel numb and you cant feel yourself.

when you cannot feel yourself, you cant feel your injury that is how ice heals injuries.
