depending on what level they are gymnast train for different amounts of time. here are some of the levels:
Level 5: about 3 hours a day 3 days a week
Level 6: about 4 hours a day 3 days a week
Level 7: about 4 hours a day 4 days a week
Level 8: about 4 hours a day 5 days a week
Levels like elite train around 35 hours a week.
Depends at what level the gymnast is. beginners usually start out at and 1 hour a practice one to two days a week. The more advanced gymnast who compete practice at least 4 hours a day 4 days a week.
It depends on which university you go to, but general NCAA sanctions say that there can only be official team practices/meetings 20 hours of the week during competition season and 8 hours a week out of season. Some schools use large portions of that time for team meetings, such as the Georgia Gymdogs are known for. Other schools don't really have that many meetings, they just train. With all that being said, most collegiate gymnasts train outside of mandatory team practices as well. That does not go against NCAA regulations because it is on their own time, and it makes them better athletes. Even still, it is nothing like training for elite level competitions, or, in a lot of cases, like training in club gymnastics at any level. Academics are the point of focus in college, and the NCAA wants to make sure that it's student-athletes have time to do their studies.
The usually train between 15 hours a week and 20 hours a week, just running. They spend a lot of other time on conditioning and other training.
US Olympians train at least 6 hours per day minimum.
