Fully Australian made, we are competitive and love to get together with our mates (friends) and watch a good old game of Aussie Rules Football. And we wont stop. AFL has been going on for so long, we're even considering having a team from Tasmania (a island a bit off form Australia but still part of Australia).
When was soccer invented and who invented it?
Soccer is short for association football. Football has existed for as long as men have kicked or fought over a ball but there were was no agreed set of rules. The game was adopted by English Public Schools but they couldn't play against each other because they all played to different rules. A group of English schools and clubs came together on 26th October 1863 to agree common rules. They formed the Football Association and the game of soccer was formed. The laws of the game were written under the leadership of Ebenezer Cobb Morley.
When why and who invented soccer?
The 'Laws of the game' for Soccer or Association Football were written by in 1863 by a Solicitor from Hull, England called E.C. Morley. He wrote the rules for and behalf of newly formed Football Association or FA. The rules were based on the Cambridge University football rules first drafted in 1848. These new rules were the latest in a long line of attempts to standardise the many forms of football which had been played in and around Britain for hundreds of years. Ultimately the FA failed as the game of football had already spread thorough the English speaking world where emigrants were developing their own unique forms of the game. These games include American Football, Canadian Football and Australian Rules football to mention a few. All these games can trace their roots back to a ball game played in medieval Europe known to history as Shrovetide Football. Gaelic football, played in Ireland, can also trace its roots back to a form of this medieval ball game known as Caid.

Four downs would make it too easy to get a first down. As it is, Canadian Football is a much more wide open and high-offence game than its American cousin. The down rules in the two games were settled a long time ago and the other rules have been tweaked to make the game more balanced--to help the defence in the American game and to help the offence in the Canadian.
