The durable tight end from the University of Tennessee is the No. 1 pass catcher in Dallas Cowboys history -- and one of the NFL's all-time greats. Through December 24, 2017, Witten is the team's all-time leader in receptions with 1,150 and reception yards with 12,431. He is one of four tight ends in National Football League history to surpass 10,000 receiving yards for a career. The others: Tony Gonzalez (15,127 yards), Antonio Gates (11,462 yards) and Shannon Sharpe (10,060 yards).

On December 7, 2015, Witten became the 12th player in NFL history with 1,000 career receptions.

On September 17, 2017, Witten moved into fourth place on the NFL's all-time receptions list, passing Hall of Famers Cris Carter (1987-2002) and Marvin Harrison (1996-2008). He trails only Jerry Rice (1,549 catches), Tony Gonzalez (1,325) and Larry Fitzgerald (1,226).
