The fastest skiers (and racers) are speed skiers. These races are World Cup races sanctioned by FIS. These racers use rubber suits and other specialized equipment. The current world record for men is held by Simone Origone from Italy at a speed of 251.419 kilometers per hour (156.2 mph) and the woman's world record is held by Sanna Tidstrand from Sweden at 242.590 kph (150.7 mph). These speeds were reached in 2006 at Les Arcs in France. Tracie Max Sachs from the USA holds the 3rd fastest woman's speed at 238.570 kph (148.2 mph) and she is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most consecutive World Cup Titles in any sport (winning the World Cup 5 times in a row from 2002 to 2007 in speed skiing).
