65-70 mph would be pretty decent. Age plays a factor obviously, but how and when the body matures(some sooner than others) also needs to be accounted for. I believe most importantly, however, is how mechanically sound is the young pitcher. Good pitching mechanics can easily add 5+ mph no a pitchers fastball, quit often more. And mechanics keep the arm "safer" as well.

It really depends, the age 14 is a time of great change. If you just turned 14 and are about 5'3''-5'8'' a average speed is in the low sixties.

If you are 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, then probably high seventies.

Just so you know I just turned 14, am 5'7'', and weigh 120 pounds. I play in a 13 and under league where I see a lot of 56-62 mile per hour pitches. I throw pretty fast for that league with my main pitch being a mid-sixty two seam fastball.

I am a 14 year old and i throw around 70 on average. When im having a good day pitching i will get up around 75. I see most pitchers my age throwing about 60-65.

It really depends on what level you are playing. My son is 14 and throws 75, 66mph slider and 63 change. In the same tournament he was in recently, one kid threw 87 (no joke) and many others between 81-85. I would say for the most part the average is between 70-80. I can tell you that an 80 mph at 60ft gets hit hard when that's all you have. My son went out with his 75mph and struck out 7 in his last tournament against a major level team and his overall ERA this year was in the 2.5 - 3 range because he locates and mixes his pitches well. By the time your 17-18, you need to be in the low to mid 80s and have some off speed stuff or you won't be pitching on the varsity team and beyond.

I'm 15 years old and last year i clocked at 76 mph. So i guess I'm good but what really helps is if you have a NASTY breaking ball. I like the curveball or the splitter but i have seen kids throw the slider a lot.

My son turned 13 a week ago. He averages about 63 mph. I think that's a little on the low side of average.
