The average swimming pool size is 18x36 and in a fiberglass pool that is fairly large. The complete "average" install including concrete decking, equipment, crane delivery, water to fill with immediately because the pool will pop out of the ground, so you need to rent a water truck with at least 3500 gals of water...anywhere between $30K to $50K depending on personal choices such as lighting the addition of a spa etc. A piece of advice, go with it though because in the long run the maintenance is much easier be cause of the smooth surface its hard for algae to grow, easy to repair cracks in fiberglass vs vinyl liner replacement(average $2000.00) or gunite/white plaster(painting $500-$1000) You will have to drain all of your dollars away and reinvest. With fiberglass the warrant is usually 25 years+ and transferable You really keep your chemical investment in the water. Also, if you plan on a heater it will stay thermal longer since its naturally 10 degrees warmer. You can really utilize solar heat and a solar blanket to warm well in a fiberglass pool. One more piece of advice, GO SALT CHLORINATOR!! Easy stuff and soft silky safe water and your fingertips.

Please consider the type of soil that you have. Fiberglass pools are not always the best choice depending on where you live. Do you have well or city water? The cost of water would not be an issue if you had well water. The only time you should completely drain a pool is in the instance of a liner replacement or painting. The same basic principles apply to any type of swimming pool-if you do not maintain proper and correct water balance no pool or equipment will be worth your investment of money or time. Only go with a salt chlorinator if you know how to properly use it and no matter what some salesmen may tell you--any system requires some effort and attention. It is never as "easy" as it is made out to be.

1) Poster didn't mention that you can repair a vinyl liner in a vinyl liner type pool w/o replacing it. Most often, it will be the least expensive repair cost of any in-ground pool selection that has an interior problem. In some cases, a puncture or a small tear can be repaired easily by the pool owner themselves for the cost of a $10-$15 repair kit. These kits have the vinyl material (patch) with epoxy that works in underwater applications so the pool owner doesn't have to even lower the water level to make a repair. There are no $10-$15 interior repair options for fiberglass or gunite pools.

2) As for those "warranties" in a fiberglass shell, ALL fiberglass manufacturer's "EXCLUDE" "ground and/or pool movement" from warranty coverage. This is a point we make sure the consumer understands BEFORE going to contract with us on a pool (something that fiberglass only builders rarely mention to their customers). When there is a crack to inspect, it is almost ALWAYS due to ground and/or pool movement thus the manufacturer's warranty isn't going help in this situation. For any type of pool, warranties are only as good as to how they are written, NOT based on the numbers of years on paper.

A good rule of thumb is $1,000 per foot.

The cost of a fiberglass pool can vary greatly depending on what part of the United States you live in because you have to factor in shipping costs of the pool shell. The other most important factors to consider is what the access is like to the backyard, how far away a dump site is for the dirt that is hauled away, and all of the options that are selected with the pool. In selling and designing fiberglass pools for the past 10 years I have sold jobs that have cost between $30,000. and $250,000. (these numbers include patio around pool, landscaping, and fence). So much like building a custom home, it all depends on the options and material choices you select to go along with the pool.

The price of fiberglass Swimming Pools can vary drasticly. How much yours will cost will depend on a number of things such as the area that you live in and the size of the pool and any other number of variables. In comparison to a traditonal pool however the cost is usually less expensive.

How do you fibreglass a inground pool liner pool?

Fiberglass pool shells are shipped in a single piece directly from the manufacturer. As a result, you don't actually linea pool with fiberglass the way you would with concrete or vinyl. Instead, installing a fiberglass pool simply means digging a hole in which to place the already completed shell.

What is a vinyl lined inground pool?

An inground pool is typically lined with either gunite (concrete), fiberglass, or vinyl. Gunite and fiberglass are roughly the same cost, whereas vinyl is considerably cheaper. With the lower price comes less durability, as vinyl lining has to be replaced every 8-10 years or so, whereas the other two can last for decades. Vinyl is also much easier to puncture or otherwise damage. That said, many people still prefer vinyl inground pools due to the lower cost.

Inground Pools: How to Select the Right One?

Purchasing a pool is a large investment for any homeowner. There are several different types of inground pools available, so selecting the right one can be a challenge. Currently, fiberglass, concrete and vinyl liner inground pools are being sold. Comparing each type can make buying a pool much simpler. Fiberglass inground pools are a great choice for pool buyers. They are pre-constructed at a factory and shipped to the desired location in one piece. A customer simply selects their preferred size and shape from a catalog. Fiberglass pools are typically the most expensive pool on the market, but they last the longest. In the long run, a fiberglass pool will require less repair and fewer chemicals than other pool types. It usually takes only a few weeks to install a fiberglass pool from start to finish. The inside of fiberglass pools is smooth to the touch. For homeowners that desire more freedom designing their pool, then a concrete one would be the best option. Concrete inground pools are currently the most popular on the market. They are custom created by pool builders, which is great for customers who have a difficult yard shape. Concrete is usually less expensive than fiberglass, but requires more care over the years. Unlike fiberglass, a concrete pool is built in stages, so the construction time tends to be longer, usually one to three months. These pools come with a wide variety of finishes, from rough plaster to smooth tile. Less popular are vinyl liner inground pools. These pools are typically sold to the consumer in a kit form and put together by the owner. First, the ground must be excavated to fit the pool, and then it is placed inside. The sides of vinyl liner pools are constructed from steel. Once erected, they will be permanently supported by concrete. A vinyl liner is then spread over the sides and bottom. These pools are very popular in parts of the country where there are cold winters, as they can be easily drained and covered until the weather warms back up. Swimmers enjoy the smooth surface of the liner, but it can accrue more damage than other pools types.
