How is a game of hockey started?

just like any other game of hockey... with a face off... if there is no one to drop the puck then the way it usually goes down is players in the faceoff agree to say a phrase and with each word they tap there sticks off the ground and then with each others sticks over top of the ball/puck. The most common thing to say is NHL... the players tap sticks on each letter N-H-L and after the sticks tap on the L both players can try and take the ball/puck.

Field hockey: A game of Field Hockey is started by the umpire blowing their whistle to indicate time on, then a player of one team taking a free hit from the middle of the field while all other players are in their own defensive half.

The ball is placed in the centre of the field. The team who is starting can play the ball in any direction they want, and the opposing team must be at least 5 metres away from it until it is played.

Ice hockey: A game of Ice Hockey begins with a faceoff at centre ice (the circle and mark in the middle of the rink). The referee blows their whistle, to indicate the gane starting, and simutaneously drops the puck to be used between two players from opposing teams. As soon as the puck touches the ice, it is in play and either player may then proceed as normal. All players besides these two must be outside the faceoff circle until the puck is in play.
