How did Rocky Balboa become who he is?

While Rocky Balboa is only a fictional character in the "Rocky" movies- he started fighting at age 15 and boxed against other underdog fighters like himself. Then he was given the opportunity to go up against the world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed. So Rocky trained himself real hard by running up and down the steps in Philadelphia. Even though he did not win the first fight- he managed to last throughout the rounds. Apollo then declared a rematch and Rocky won against him in the second fight. That made him the new world heavyweight champion. He instantly became a worldwide celebrity and was seen on television as well as merchandise. Then he ended up fighting guys like Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago. After that was when he lost all of his money and ended up having to retire from fighting due to permanent brain damage. Rocky then ended up training Tommy "the Machine" Gunn who later betrayed him and caused them both to fight on the streets. Many years later- Rocky comes out of retirement to fight a much younger boxer named Mason "the Line" Dixon. This was his last fight ever and he still is remembered to this day for being one of the greatest boxers of all time.
