A simple example would be American football. If you do not wear all the necessary clothing (ie. guards etc.) you will suffer great damage to your body when your opponents do. Not wearing soccer shoes for soccer can result you slipping and falling on the turf, or injuring your leg as grip is lacking. As for clothing like shirts and shorts, wearing long shorts would make it dangerous for a sprinter, unless it is skin tight. Wearing abrasive material for sports that require great amounts of free movement like soccer would also result in abrasion on the body, making sport more dangerous.
