Shaving the wood of a Baseball bat can be done with a lathe or a plane. A plane can be purchased in a store and is smaller. Hold the plane up to the bat and push down on the plane lengthwise.

A bat is shaved by removing the end cap then using a cutting tool and a lathe you would remove material from the inside wall of the bat.

You start the process by removing the end cap from the bat. The bat is placed in a lathe and the inside wall of the bat is shaved. You ususally just take about .020 off of the inside wall.

What is a Slowpitch Softball Bat?

You may be wondering what the difference is among a slowpitch softball bat, a fastpitch softball bat and a regular baseball bat. The difference is in the technology of designing the bat. The length, weight and barrel diameter, among other features, are the main differences. Yes, a slowpich ball is heavier. That is why a slowpitch ball makes an arch and drop straight to the ground. since fastpitch balls come in faster the bats are lighter and made to swing faster.............any other questions go to www.youbetya.com

A shaved bat is a bat that has had material removed from the inside by "shaving" the inner wall. This thins the wall of the bat which causes the ball to leave the bat at higher speeds and giving greater distance to hit balls.

What is the difference between slow pitch softball and regular softball?

Slowpitch Softball is played using a high-arc pitching technique where the ball slowly falls into the strike-zone. Slowpitch speeds range from 25mph-35mph. Fastpitch Softball a windmill pitching technique is used that increases that speed of the pitch significantly and allows the pitcher to throw different kinds of pitches like drop, rise, curve, screw, and change. Fastpitch speed range from usually 50mph-65mph. The rules are basically the same, minus some variations in batting. In slow pitch if you foul off the third strike you are out. In fastpitch the strike is not called until you swing with no contact with the ball. Both require different equipment. EX:A fastpitch bat is different from a slowpitch bat. Slow Pitch...the coach pitches it and fast pitch....one of the teammates pitches it! :)

What is the difference between slowpitch softball gloves and fastpitch softball gloves?

Construction and leather are the same (for respective models). Slowpitch gloves have bigger pockets to accommodate 12" softballs, however, slowpitch gloves generally are made for men. For Girls/Women's Fastpitch Softball, good gloves have slender fingerstalls to accommodate smaller finger and palms of girls and women.

Who had the heaviest bat and what is the weight?

it really depends on your governing body in usssa slowpitch you can use up to 31 ounces legally some people get by and use heavier bat but unless you are built like a gorilla a heavier bat is going to have a negative effect on your bat speed. You ideally want a medium, middle of the road bat weight of 26 to 28 ounces so you can get a quick bat onto the ball
