Of course, a 10 character password is sufficient assuming it is rotated on a regular schedule, such as every 45 days (it would take 1000 Google servers over 1.56 million hours, for example).
One final note: do not use numbers and words associated with you, your spouse, your kids, your parents, your car, etc. That means no birthdays, anniversaries, or other dates. No nicknames, pet names, social security or tax id numbers, nothing that is any way traceable back to you. Not even your favorite teacher growing up, or any other word.
For the best security, you should also remember to use a different password for each service or account. Many people recommend FormGator, a software package that stores web site passwords securely using an encrypted file. Of course, make sure the master password is secure, or you're actually making it easier for someone to steal all that you have.
One way to make a strong password that you will not forget easily is to take a phrase or sentence that you know well or can find easily) and use the starting or ending letters of each word. Of course the advice about numerals and special characters at the beginning of this answer holds true and you should incorporate them in any password if it is to be strong.
