Its All technique, the way you extend your arm and feet in a motion and make sure you pace your self. One way of trying to get faster is running up steep hills a couple of times till your thighs hurt. Another is just practicing , practicing and practice! Dont give up. Remember to move your hands in a right angle formation and swing hard.

There are many things that are important in order to improve your sprinting times. Lower body exercises are very important: squats, bike, jump rope, lunges. Your core is also very important to to work if you really want to be in good enough shape to run good sprinting times. Working abs through leg lifts, Russian twists, and crunches with a fitness orb is a good place to start. Do not forget to work your upper body, not too much though. People often either work their upper bodies too much or do not think it is all that important and do not work them. The exercise that I do the most for upper body is very simple, I hold 15lb dumbells in each hand and just do a fast running motion. Another thing that will really bring down your time will be running on a treadmill in front of a mirror. You can usually find this set up at any fitness place and doing fast runs on the treadmill will be good for you if you watch your form. Be carefull to keep your form good as you get tired, if you lose your form on a treadmill - you will lose your form in a race.

1. Do not run flat footed. This is only for long distance. When sprinting make sure your heel never touches the ground, so when you run you are at an angle. This increases your speed since you don't have to waste your time. 2. Use running shoes or track spikes. 3. Blocks. 4. Work out your calfs and thighs (may be arms). 5. Such as 200-400 m (if you are young), practice running them over and over so you can sprint through out the whole thing. You can practice running ladders: 100m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 300m, 200m, 100m. This helped me with my 200 and 400m, now I ca sprint my whole 200m and 7/8 speed my 400m. 6. Practice.

Sprinting requires a lot or stretching. Almost every muscle has to be warmed up because you go from nothing to everything in less then a second theoretially.

Spike shoes were the best things I ever got sprinting wise.

Make sure you are the on the bals of your feet, bring your knees up high, keep ur arms at a 90 degree or sightly smaller acute angle but make sure you don't cross your arms over your body, try and keep you're arms as square as possible.

If you are starting in a crouch position try and not just stand up but push off hard and over 15-20 metres again theoretically it should take you to gradually get to your standing position but this helps momentum and helps your speed.

Also throw your head forward at the finish line for a faster time.

You should try using agility ladders. On YouTube there are alot of good agility ladder drills. It may look like they wont help but they get your feet much faster which will increase your runnong speed.

If you want to get faster in sprints you need to run longer distance. example: if you run the 100 meter you should train to run the 400 meter.
